Smoked Meat Festival

If you smell smoke, it's coming from Ville Platte, Louisiana, the "Smoked Meat Capitol of the World". This 3-day non-stop weekend begins on Friday, the last full weekend of June, with thirty (30) hours of live music, with entertainers such as Billy Joe Royal, John Conlee, T. Graham Brown, Mel McDaniel, Joe Stampley, B.J. Thomas, Wayne Toups, Jo El Sonnier and Na Na Sha.

Other festival highlights include the World Championship Smoked Meat Cook Off for amateurs and professionals; Culinary demonstrations by celebrity chefs such as John Folse, Enola Prudhomme, James Graham and Patrick Mould; a Cajun Heritage Exhibition featuring local artisans; a traditional Cajun smoke house in action; and beauty pageants. Our special guest last year was Ali Landry, Miss USA.
