`Mamou Cajun Music Festival

A two-day music festival, held the first full weekend of September, presents traditional Cajun musicians, dancing, food and contests. Washerboard, Boudin and Watermelon eating, Guinea chasing, Passe Partout, Greased Pole climbing, and beer drinking contests are only a few of the 16 being held. Along with the music and games, learn the Cajun traditions of old. A hog boucherie is on the agenda for Saturday morning, just wait till you taste those cracklins! Fiddle and Quilt making will be taught by the most experienced of hands.
